Ancient Chinese Secret - Caveat Emptor - 1999
This experimental "power-violence" band. I have to say that about 7 years ago, I accidentally bought 5 of these vinyls because I confused them with the band Chinese Stars, who had just put out their first record at the time. Then I though hey Its on Slap-a-Ham and Chris Dodge is in it, I think, so it will probably be fine. Now its in my virtual store and after having a listen for the first time in nearly a decade - Its actually pretty good. It sounds a lot like what all those Brooklyn, Indie-fuzz bands, that are playing 3 out of 4 shows at Death By Audio, now sound like. Drum, Bass and bold female vocals. Its a real steal. Did I mention Chris Dodge is in the band?
